seems funny i know but does anyone actually enjoy their work and look forward to it. Does anyone wake up in the morning and go "yay!, I've got work today."

Is it just me that dreads going to any job ive ever had and feels like quitting every waking moment of every job.

I work in a bunch of different places, and usually like it a lot. I like my colleagues and my bosses, and the work is fun.

Did some teaching last year, and that was a blast. I really, really enjoyed the way my students soared.

Anytime I've worked I've quite enjoyed it. Not in a "can't wait go to get up early and go to work" way. But I ejoyed working and in one particular job I would have worked there for a fraction of what I was being paid. I miss work since I started back in college.

Dont mind the work, its only part-time and gets me some money.

Managers can be asses sometimes tho. Minimum wage sucks.

Not really, no. It's boring! Lucky we have Boards access. Hopefully my next job will be more interesting.

I'm loving my current job at the moment. Only thing I dread is night shifts and having to get up at 6.30am every now and then.

And the fact that I spend 3 hours a day travelling.

And that there's no hot chicks in work.

    God I hate my job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,592 ✭✭✭Ro: maaan!

It's not worth it to hate your job. When you can get Free money for doing nothing having a job is just greedy.

Dont get me wrong I work to live and not live to work but I love my job, I love what I do and I love the people I work with. Social Work rocks

I don't wake up looking forward to going to work, but I do:

    1. Enjoy working with the people I work with (with a few exceptions)
    2. Look forward to payday, cos I get a tidy sum to do with as I please.
    3. Appreciate the time off, both the rostered days off and the annual leave.

When I finished college and started in the real world , yep going into work as the lowest link on the totem pole ...work was something I really dreaded going in to. However many years later , have to say , am working with a fair employer and honestly don't mind going into work at all, in fact by the end of holidays am usually really looking forward to it.
Suppose its all about working your way to something you feel you are good at and appreciated at.

The first year of real work - not Summer odd jobs - is the worst! Once you accept this and try and enjoy work, the people you work with, i.e. get into the groove (though this isn't always possible - 'coz you'll find complete knobs wherever you go), work isn't so bad really. If it is vote with your feet as I have done!

Pretty much on the whole it is quite enjoyable, a few annoying customers every now and then, but ppl i work with make up for it, however i am not working f/t any more and am only working p/t...so i don't know if that results in me looking at work in a different light....

I like my work.. i dont like having to get out of bed in the morning.,. especially now its real cold :D Anyway im pretty free, im given jobs and can be anywhere in the city or even outside of dublin (yes it does exist!!).

Mostly its good, i go in.. repair computers, set up network broadband, firewalls, VPN etc whatever... get them to upgrade stuff and buy stuff they need.. generally its great... sometimes its a pain but mostly i love my job.. i usually get to go home early if im done on the road and am not stuck in base.

work is good, but the hours piss me off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

I enjoy work, but I wouldn't mind an extra shift or two. Odd complain, I know, but when you only work 4 hours a week it gets annoying.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭Tommy Vercetti

I enjoy my job, the worst part is commuting but since it's shift work, I'm only badly effected maybe 3 or 4 times a week at worst. I'm working now though, at 1:30am on Sunday morning, knowing that there are millons of beautiful women out there having a good time without my drunken stupidity to keep them company.

You do of course have to appreciate that this means we do no not have to lock antlers over these women! Just hope your cosmic with their choices so far :D

I wish I got more over time also.... I'm only contracted for 180 days in the year.... so essentially I have over 6 months holidays a year. It's good in a way but bad also. If I work over time, I get all the money at the end of the year. It's a good way to save... but a bit annoying.

just have experience with those summer jobs -work in day care, really tough actually give credit to those people who do it day in and day out -raising other people's kids and all that, but in the end its really rewarding, and plus u get paid to color and build sand castles.. that and potty train, but hey, i'll take the good with the bad =)

am looking foward to being an occupational therapist though, (just got accepted into an ot school, yay!) anyway, everyone ive met whose an OT or a PT says that almost every morning they wake up looking forward to going to work to help other people have a better llife =) so yea, i found that amazing
    anyway, carry on, ~Beth

yeeeeeeah!!! lotsa fun! esp when they build them way up high then they push them down and they crash down on the head... they think thats the funniest thing in the world. that and when u build them beautiful sand castles and then they jump on them yelling "again, again!" ..

im really good at building sand castles now

now its suddenly clear of how i lost my mind this summer =D

I think you'll find that the people who most hate their work are the people working in part-time jobs at or near minimum wage while they are in college or something like that. its just a job to make money and you usually get treated like crap.

The people that usually like their jobs or who dont mind going to work are those with full time employment in an area that they are good in or like...

Im working full time now for about 14 months since I finished college in a job related to my qualification.
I understand the theory behind my work, I can do my job properly, I like the area that I'm in. I dont mind going to work.

I dont jump out of bed and go 'oh yes, thank god its 7.30 again and I have to go to work'... i'd rather lie in bed to about 11, get up, have something to eat, play my x-box, surf the net and get paid for it at the same time, but i've come to learn that this job does no exist...

Is there really anyone who cant wait to get to work everyday?

Perhaps there are some, but not a lot...

My work can be a right old pain in the swiss roll, but its made up for by the fact im surrounded by hot chicks all day long.

TBH, six months ago I didn't mind my job so much, but now that I'm here about 18 months (first job after college) I'm bored out of my mind and have started to spend more and more time on boards.ie

Time to send out the CV in January I think!
