Guitarist/vocalist looking to form new band (Dublin)

Hey all. Looking to form a new band. Current one's not going anywhere.

I play rhythm guitar, sing and write. Not necessarily in that order. Bit of a control freak about having my music bent out of shape by other members in my current band (just as a warning )

Would prefer to form a three- to four-piece (preferably four). Influences - um, where do I begin: Placebo, Throwing Muses, Nine Inch Nails, 50 Foot Wave, Elliott Smith, Death in Vegas, Franz Ferdinand, Ani DiFranco, Depeche Mode, Tori Amos, Nirvana, Auf Der Maur (musically, not lyrically :eek: ), Mindless Self Indulgence, Skindive, Skunk Anansie, Plaid, Pearl Jam, Sigur Ros. Trace amounts of heavier stuff too, System of a Down, Lacuna Coil (melodic heavy rather than heavy heavy).

A nice small introductory list there So yeah, anybody interested, get back to me.

Note: I'm currently based in Blessington, which, yeah, is crap for getting up to Dublin generally, but can make it to city centre / Rathmines / Tallaght / Knocklyon / Firhouse without too much hassle. Also, on a personal note, homophobes need not bother replying. I'm gay, it's a part of my life and lifestyle, and hence also has its place in my songwriting.

Well, not TOO fussed I'm just shy of 21 myself, would prefer bandmates in that range but I'm not overly pushed. How old are you / what do you play? What kind of influences you got?

im mainly into punk but i like doing artistic stuff in other genres,
my influences are greenday,nofx,tsunami bomb, millencolin,pully,rancid,antiflag, taking back sunday, the beatsteaks, placebo, smashing pumpkins, offspring,rufio,ten foot pole,thrice,vision,deftones,perfect cirlce,...the list goes on!

I dont give a **** about your sexual preference as long as you respect mine and are comited to the music!

Not really so much into punk myself, though you just listed most of the bands I do like!! Do you play rhythm or lead? Lead also meaning advanced rhythm - more need someone who can riff well rather than solo (and if you can play anything like Billy from A Perfect Circle then I'd definitely be interested!)

By the by, would you be looking to do lead or backing vocals? Cause I'll not be relinquishing my claim to lead Can you harmonise, or be willing to give it a go? Another handy feature.

the best way to describe my guitar style is punk/metal flirting with alternatative (placebo type rock)
i dont actually play any pirfect circle stuff i just get some ideas from there songs, i can do that level of guitar playing though, and as for my style i like to alternate from rythem/lead guitar and same with vocals

im very close to blessington, im almost 20, play guitar. generally got a heavier taste in music than you, but i like 3 or 4 of the bands you mentioned, and i listen to a lot of soft melodic stuff too.

n no need to worry about my being a homophobe, a good mate of mine is kinda homophobic, which comes in quite handy when you want him to do something
