How Poker Mocks Us

I'm sure we've all been there.

Playing $3/6 NL 9 seater. (VC)
I have worked my way from $400 up to just under $1000
the good player below had $1200

Dealt KK (i had KK the hand before raised to $30 and got checked through somehow, the guy had just sat down so I didnt know how he'd play his ace)

Any way, on the button and I raise to $30 again.

Very good player calls me, and another short stack goes all in for another $30ish. I call as does the good player.

    Flop A Q rag
good player checks, as do I (I expect him to have at least the A with good kicker to call me)

    Turn rag
he bets $55, I think , put him on an A, maybe AQ, but perhaps a resonable PP, after all he seen how I checked the last KK as there was an A, and i've respected him in the past.

I decided to fold any way

He turns over the AQ 2 pair, and the ss all in had 33's

You guessed it.... the river was a nice big K :(

I think if the ss wasnt in it i might have called to see what he was betting with in the future maybe, but I knew I'd see his hand in the showdown with the ss.

Awh well, i guess good fold, but still, if I seen the K, i recon I could have gotten most of his stack in.

    It's a good fold.

Though if I'm reading it correctly the shortstack when all in for $60 or so over your $30 raise. Unless it was an underraise for less than $30, locking you out, I think the move would have been to reraise hefty to get the good player out and take your kings in heads up.

Yeah good fold. I had a horrible hand recently on a VC 2-4 NL six handed table. Had about 500 or so at the table. Received a PP of 7s. Raised a small bit pre-flop, 2 callers, flop comes 2 5 7 rainbow. Brilliant top set doesn't get much better than this. First to act checks, next guy raises approximately 25, I minimum re-raise, first to act folds, original raiser re-raises 100 or so. Hmmm now I know im ahead but i'm wondering what he's playing, would he be so agressive with 3/4 would he have seen a flop 6/8? *shrug* whatever i'm miles ahead even if he has two pair, so I raise again, he instantly goes all-in for more than I have, I instantly call fretting about potential straight draws etc. But he turns over pocket 5s!! relief washes over me -why hes only got 1 ou...........before I can even complete the thought the turn brings another 5 giving the bast*rd a poker and of course miracles don't happen twice and the river is a blank. After having Kings cracked by Jacks earlier in the night and now this I can see why people think online poker is rigged :)

Yes I could have re raised again, and did think about it, but i was happy to keep him in, for a flop without an A, then go big, and thougth at least I can get out cheaper if the A comes.

But I think your right he would have folded his AQ. If i raised it again.

Folding KK to a bet from a very good player on an Ace high flop. Don't see it as a good play, more a standard play really. You had 2 outs with one card to come, even if he had A2.
