Right, I know a 16:9 widescreen tv will still show bars on most movies cos they are generally filmed at 2.35:1 or even more but are there tv's out there that have a big enough ratio to eliminate bars from 2.35:1. in other words are there such things as 2.35:1 tvs?

But then would a 1.85:1 movie not have black bar's at the side's?

I guess it would, but i watch more movies in 2.35:1 than not. Ben hur i think is like 2.8:1 which is just madness.

I just wondered if they even make tv's big enough (wide enough) to fully accomodate the theatre format?

Wouldn't everything else look rubbish if the TV was in that ratio? You could never watch regular television on it.
