Hola, a few of us are planning on heading over to Mardi Gras next year and im currently researching flight prices for around that time, has anyone flown this route and managed to get somewhat normal priced flights? Anyone care to recommend a few good sites for finding them? Im useless when it comes to this sort of stuff!

Well the route I went was via Atlanta, with Delta. Was pretty hassle free. I can't remember what I paid, it was about 3 years ago or more, I reckon it was in the region of €500-€600 or so. We booked it through a travel agent, I find for non-direct routes like this travel agents get you better deals than booking direct.

been there 3 times, i went Dub - London - Detroit - New Orelans, with Northwest Airlines (booked it in Club Travel www.clubtravel.ie) that cost about €600. Last time I went, we flew to Boston with Aer Lingus (booked online) then booked seperate flights to New Orleans (again with Northwest online), the total cost for that was in the region of €550, but the travel time as significantly less. I think the London route took a total of 20 hours, not a good way to start a holiday in The Big Easy. You'll need to consider the accomodation a lot more than the flights though, Mardi Gras is huge over there, just about every hotel will have been booked out for months.

Been ther a couple of times (May each time) and as a result I would never go during Mardi Gras, the place is mad enough on a mormal weekend so during Mardi Gras it would be nuts, from TV pictuires etc Burbon st. is just jammed thick all week long, looks fairly uncomfortable, accommadation options are much less during Mardis Gars also.
