    The first thing you should do is look into a local night course or something similar. Alternatively, you could look into a book or online course.

    The major benefit of a course you can attend would be practical work, with machines that are there to be worked on... This way, not only are you around people in the same situation as yourself, but you also have a tutor there to help you should you go wrong, or get stuck...
