It's not too bad, but 256Mb of RAM is quite low - see if you can get one with at least 512Mb.

It would be difficult to find 512mb in a laptop for any less than 1000. I'm looking for a laptop too but I've about 1500 to spend. Gonna go for a fujitsu-siemens Amilo A 1630. Dunno where to buy it though. Anyone have any suggestions? I've seen a few places, suck as nice-pc.co.uk but believe it or not they dont ship to ireland.

was in pc world saw thw lap top its ok but memory is too low they have a nice toshiba for 1099 wide screen 512gig ram dvd burner its really nice i have decided to wait till st stephens day they will have a huge sale on then or the day after should be a lot cheaper

nah the pcworld sale is a joke, they just put stickers on things saying - the same price reduced from the (same price + €200)

I would avoid Packard Bell and choose the Toshiba, overall they are better laptops. Just one example, in most case Toshiba is using fairly good sound card and speakers but I heard a Packard Bell and the sound (even from a CD with headphones) was awfull!

if you're a student, 12" ibook is a pretty good deal (nothing really matches it at its price range. The only mathches I found are IBMs and Toshibas, but they cost a lot more). Go to O2 experience in Henry street and take a look at the ibook (dont buy it from there because they have 1ghz model which is old, there was a new revision a month or so ago).
