I've got an ad on the Buy And Sell website at the moment for something I'm selling. I got this email this morning and is it just me or does this look like a scam email?
Hi, I'm edward phillips i'd like to know if your [copy of ad]
is still for sale, if it is, then get back to me with your last offer and the
    pictures. Regards edwardphillips

did he copy the exact ad?
if so its probably some trawling the site and sending out mass mails hoping to phish someone for a bank draft [?] scam.

Well, I sent him back an email just saying it was available, how much I was looking for and asked him where he was located. Maybe I'll have some fun...

I got something like that. They eventually offer to write a cheque or postal order of greater value than the item and request that you refund them or something stupid like that. Thnig is that the cheque/postal order is useless and they'd end up leaving you without the item AND out of pocket. (or something along those lines)

Buy and sell had a notice on their site about the problem. The 'buyer' in my case went very quiet when I asked him something too specific!

    It is what it's.

It would surprise u to know how many ppl fall for this scam.... can anyone explain why the bank is not liable for these situations cos when the person receives the draft the bank puts the money into the sellers account. Surely it would be a better practise to wait till the draft is 100% cleared and then put the money in cos I can agree with a person when they argue why did the bank put the money into my account if the draft wasn't real.

Oh if anyone else is interested they usually advise to send the extra amount to a person who will deal with the shipping of the item. Never edal with someone who offers to do that.
