    Hi,

does anyone have any recommendation's on which are the best stores in Dublin for trading in cameras and gear and who have a good selection of second hand kit.

The types of things I'm looking for are Nikon bodies, lens, flashes etc.

I know the main ones I think are:
    www.cameracentre.ie
    www.cameraexchange.ie
    www.connscameras.ie

Of course I also know most of the ones that are in the sticky's but its just so long since i ahve been in town since moving out to navan that i don't know which shops to try anymore.

Does anyone know any more or which ones have a good stock and give decent trade in prices?

Stay away from Conn's, in my experience they are the most expensive shop in Dublin. And I'm no fan of their attitude either.

Thanks for the info Guy's I'm going to to to berminghams and gunns tomorrow to have a look I am looking to go digital and get something that is more user friendly for my the family to use while also being high quality and not to have to lug around a big bag every where i go, ideally i'd love to get the Nikon D70 plus some really good glass but that i way out of my budget so i was thinking of getting a Nikon Coolpix 8800 which is 8 megapixel, has a 10x zoom and VR.

I aws thinking of trading in some if not all of the following equipment but i'm not sure until i get a chance to actually see and hold the coolpix.:
    Nikon F80
    Nikkor 35-100 G series lens
    Nikkor 50mm F1.8
MB-16 Battery Pack (which is excellent as the camera runs very well on AA's which are a lot cheaper than the other batteries)
    SB-50DX Flash
Sigma 100-300 Nikon fit AF lens.
    Nikon F55 with 28-80 E series lens.
Plus a good nikon bag and various filters setup-down rings and all the boxes and manuals.

I also have a Manfrotto tripod and "joystick" head but i think ill be keeping these.

Be curious to know how you got on. I have some old camera gear I'd like to trade in too.

Ok well I've ordered and put a deposit on an 8800 still waiting for it to come in, one shop only offered me 450 for all that gear plus there CP 8800 was 1059, another shop is giving me €600 for all the gear and their CP 8800 is 999, I'm just waiting for it to come in today hopefully, and they will check out my gear then so i'm hoping it hasn't devalued in the last week.

In preperation i ordered a transend 40X 1gb compact flash card from www.shop4memory.com for €119.

    Hi Furp,

I might take some stuff off your hands. How old is this gear? How much are you looking for? I am especially interested in the F80, MB-16, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 and maybe the F55. Are you in Dublin?

hi qwertz i'd probably get in trouble as this is not on the for sale boards,

but the all the F80 gear is only 13 months old mint condition in with boxes and a nice nikon bag, also i made a mistake its an F60 i have not an F55.

one shop is offering me 600 for the whole lot and i am supposed to bring it in today for the trade-in, i work in dublin but live in navan.

I know that i could have gotthe compact flash it cheaper from the US but i wanted it before xmas, i ordered in tuesday and had it on thursday, plus with the Coolpix 8800 as far as i know there is no speed advantage with the Sandisk Ultra II, as the camera only writes at a specific speed which Nikon has not published.

Having said that the CP 8800 is still not in stock and the store are hoping it comes in today as they have a lot of orders to fill.
