Firefox problems

Is anyone having problems with Firefox and certain sites today. I'm running Firefox 1.0 on Win2k. I can login to BOI site but it won't display my account details. Campus.ie won't show either. Keep on getting "Document contains no data" message. I'm pretty much convinced the problem is local but everything was working fine yesterday and I haven't installed anything or made any changes. I thought it was to do with the Adblock extension so I've disabled that but no change. It's getting on my nerves. Have tried a reboot just for the hell of it but no change.

Try clearing your cache and your temporary internet files.

Do you have this problem with IE too?

Christ, what a day yesterday. Soon after my plea for help on boards.ie, the whole network went down. I'm still not sure what the problem was. Found a virus on server that could have been responsible but I eventually got everything working again by replacing our dsl modem and our router. Banana's!

    Different Firefox problems

    * I've found that it's a CPU hog. I have V1.0 installed yet, now and then, I'll suddenly find it's using 90%+ of the CPU and I'm forced to kill it off and restart it.

    * Flash files often don't work. I downloaded the required extension. Instead, when the page appears, it'll just have the Flash area greyed out. It won't tell me that I need a new plugin or anything - I'll just get nothing. Has this not been fully developed yet?

I have that Flash problem too. Have downloaded the flash install a couple of times, but on certain sites it doesn't show the 'Flash' and instead says I need to install the application....

It's a good thing if applications make use of as much of the free CPU power as possible.
Is it taking over resources from other apps?

I'm not sure what extension you've installed for Flash, but you should probably just use the installer from macromedia.com. It works fine for me.

Yup. It sometimes goes up to 98% usage and makes working impossible and/or do anything else until I kill it off.

Can you provoke it into going that high? Try deactivating all pluigns and doing the same thing, then reactivate them one by one until it starts hogging the CPU again.

I'll give that a shot. Interesting thought was that the mouse gestures plugin came with a compatability warning...
