Dinny byrne returned to the black and amber land thursday. bad loss for mullinahone as he is a very experienced campaigner who did very well for the little village and was unlucky not to play a bigger role with tipp.

whats the general consensus amongst the hurling heads esp from KK + tipp???

He wasn't great for Mullinahone, played well in some of the league games but when the crunch came wasn't much of addition, Mullinahone won the county in 2002 without Denis Byrne and even though he'll be a loss he won't be missed that much

May well qualify to play Intermediate with Kilkenny next year.
Should be a great acquisition at that level.

I agree .He never looked like his heart was really in it with Mullinahone.Definately went backwards in my opinion since he left Kilkenny. Will be interesting to see if he picks it up when he returns to native soil.I have a funny feeling he will.Supposed to have recieved a lot of sh*t on the field and from the terraces playing in Tipp club games.Difficult to play if thats the case.
Thought Mullinahone did nt use him very well either and seemed to not be too inclined to pass him the ball.

he was well respected around mullinahone and there was a great buzz around the place when he arrived. thing just didnt happen for him i guess. yeah killenaule and ballingarry used go out with the intention of killing him yet ironically he snubbed ballingarry for mullinahone. his house where he bought is more in the ballingarry parish in fact.

Saw him playing in the South final and semi final this year against Ballingarry and Killenaule. He definately came in for special treatment but in fairness gave back as hard. There was a Killenaule man beside me at the game and he was going mental shouting abuse at Byrne.
Was also at the Mullinahone v.Toomevara match and the abuse coming from the stand in his direction was terrible.I would say he may have been well recieved in Mullinahone but the rest of Tipp hated him.
Rumour in Kilkenny was that the Dunnes wanted him off the Tipp panel and totally snubbed him in training.Don t know if this was true but it was all over the place.

there is alot of truth in that. rumour is tommy and benny were meant to have said at half time in the KK disaster, "If that Kilkenny b**locks plays, were out of here." personally and hypothetically speaking if that did happen, it may not have, i would have opened the door for them and they would be lucky they werent kicked out. For alleged supporters to aim the sort of abuse that he received in games to an ordinary man that gets up Monday morning and sets out to work is appalling. its up to the Gaa to kick these morons out of grounds and never leave them back in.

Thats what I heard too gunner with the Dunnes.Jaysus thats some way to be going on.Heard that The North Tipp section hated Byrne on the panel.
Personally I could nt figure out why he was nt used v. Kilkenny in major games. It would have really upset some of the Kilkenny players.Might not have been fair on the player himself though.
Maybe that explains the second half collapse .
