Hey I am considering building a pc using the following bundle from komplett:

    300492 - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0 GHz Socket 754, 512 KB cache, BOXED

    300050 - MSI K8N NEO Platinum Edition

    116452 - Crucial PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL3 5ns Unbuffered, Non-parity, 2.5V, 64Meg x 64

    Together with a:

    Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB S-ATA 8MB Cache 7200RPM Harddisk.

Il probably pick up a case in a shop or somewhere and use my existing video card monitor and other stuff until after xmas. I'l install linux and maybe the beta 64bit xp.

I was just wondering if anybody has any comments or advice regarding this hardware?

    Johnny

Probably better goin to jes.de as they would be a good bit cheaper than komplett if you really want to stick with komplett then why notgo for an nforce4 mobo would pay off in the long run and its only €40 more, also has SLI aswell for two graphics cards.Try this one from ASUS its getting great reviews I presume your buying the neo for the AGP, to be honest id try and stretch to PCI express i couldnt see myself buying a new mobo unless it was pci-e. If you do decide to go for the nforce4 mobo the processors are in and around the same price.

It depends on what you're going to use the PC for. From what I've heard, the processor is one of the best ones for overclocking (if thats what you're into). About the case, you'll proably need to buy a new PSU for it. The nonames are normally overrated and, well, sh*t. I've seen may people recommend Antec and Forton(sp?).

    Hope this helps.

I've just installed the same mobo as above and Athlon 64 3200+. So far, so good! :) The mobo seems to have plenty of pluggable hardware options.

To be honest i'd stay away from Maxtor unless it's the 16mb cache variety. They don't have the greatest reputation for performance or reliability.

Go with Hitatch or Western Digital for sheer performance or Samsung for silence with decent performance.

I agree. ALthough the SATA version is meant to be ok, the ATA version of the 200GB Maxtor HDD has let me down a few times, and a few people I know down a few times.

After a few crashes, I went & got a Seagate. No problems since.
