tv-out box

I've been using kiss dvd player to play burnt divx/xvid's and the like but it seems to have gone terminally dead lately, I have an older amd xp2000 machine pretty much unused that I had briefly setup as a linux server and I was wondering about maybe getting it to output to the tv in place of the dvd player and have it networked to save burning dvd's off for it.

I have a dvd drive for it and player software so it'd do fine for run of the mill rentals, I just need a new 3d card with tv-out on it (all I have is an old geforce 3-ti with only vga output), what's the picture quality like using a cheap low end video out card like a radeon 7000 or 9200 with video out? Will it give reasonable playback quality for a standard shop bought dvd in comparison to a run of the mill standalone dvd player?

Radeons have very good TV encoders. A 7000 will probably be perfect for what you need.

Ah cool, shouldn't be too much then pick up a cheap video out radeon. I was looking about and found an all-in-wonder model I didn't know existed called the VE which seems to pretty much be a 7000 with all in wonder software/video in (http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/components/graphicscards/productView.htm?quicklinx=2PF2), it seems pretty tempting given that it includes all the cabling and would (hopefully) work as a digital tape machine. Would this be fine for the purpose along with a scart plug to output to the tv with? (card seems to do svideo and composite)

Does anyone have any idea what i'd need in addition to an all-in-wonder card with all the associated cables to output to the tv, just a blank scart plug to insert the sound and video out?
