Can someone suggest where I can get protective gloves for handling solutions of hydrochloric acid (41%), sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite?

I've read that nitrile gloves and neoprene gloves are good for these chemicals - are they expensive?

Nitrile gloves are much more expensive than the more commonly used latex. I don't know how much they would charge for personal accounts.

Sarstedt, AGM, VRW and Lennox are probably the cheapest out there, Fannin Healthcare and Biosciences are probably more expensive but more accessible.

No idea who is best or which types to recomend.

its - Personal Protective Equipment - do a google for PPE gloves ireland

    I found - www.eurosafety.com

It's PPE gear so AFAIK if you are employed to work with this stuff then you employer should supply it - sounds like you are involved in heavy cleaning.

Here you can buy Sodium Hydroxide in hardware stores
Bleach is usually a 5% soultion of Sodium Hyplochlorite
30% Hydrochloric Acid can be bought in Italian supermarkets..
so they are "household" chemicals even though they are nasty.

Be vary careful of the Sodium Hydroxide , burns from it can take months to heal .

That's one of the downsides of tabbed browsing - ye open a million windows and by the time you get to the end one, someone has replied first.

There is an argument that wearing gloves would cause you to perspire and open your pores, but the substances above are regularily used as cleaning agents to remove organic material (like hands).

The substances are part of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate test kits for my fish tank. I'd be using them in small quantities, no more than once a day but don't want to get burned while using them.

Nitrile gloves will do you. Use them my self for handling analar HCL and H2SO4. They are more expensive but they can be used multiple times.

We get most of our stuff from sigma aldrich. They probably have them.

AGB should have them in stock, you will need to decide if you want Nitrile or Latex gloves and what size you need. I think they will accept Credit Card or collection in person. Call them on 01-8822222.
