    which version of windows ?
XP SP2 has a firewall so if the change only happened since then...
Best to check though your firewall apps to see what settings they have - do you use zonealarm ?

netstat -n Will list all the ports you are accessing in NT/2K/XP

You could try to connect into your self to see what happens - hopefully the app will popup !
    eg: http://127.0.0.1:23
AFAIK there is a telnet service in XP so you could set it up and try to connect in.

Not a lot of help really ...
