Would you recommend an ipod?

I was thinking of getting an ipod because I think it would be handy, rather than lugging CDs around with me. Just want to know what your experience of the ipod is? Would you recommend it over any other types of MP3 players - why?

I'd only need a mini ipod - I think that would give enough space for my music. The only downside I can see would be that it has no radio playing facility on it. What are your thoughts or recommendations?

Maybe an MP3 CD player would suit you.
I had a sony one with a radio. About €100 and It can hold 300 songs with 70 hour battery life.

    Just read this :)

You could go for the 20GB version for €300 in peats. Only what? €30 dearer than the 4GB ipod mini. €30 more for 5 times the space and a hell of a better player. It has radio too:)

The iriver is supposed to be better, so people tell me. There was a thread about this on CTYI a while ago, I'd copy from it, but I'm currently banned

And the fact that the mini's battery is pìss poor.

I have an iRiver and would also make the same recommendation as Cormie.

There's a pretty good Penny Arcade strip on the iPod

    Have a look!

I love my iPod... but then I use a Mac too. So they both work and look nicely together. But if I didn't have a Mac, I'd probably go with a cheaper option.

Also I've never had any problems with the battery, dispite the fact that it's 1st Generation iPod.

i'd recommend a Creative model, the Zen is very cool. cheaper than an iPod, just as sleek looking and holds 10,000 songs.

i have an ipod and although they are really nice looking and cool in general, the battery is annoying.I heard it has been fixed, but i can only get about a day and a bit out of it. Also (again, i think that this has been fixed) the battery dies completey after 12 or so months.

Look at www.ipodlounge.com for more on them.

The alternatives are irivers or creative zen's, both of which are ment to be superior. If you google around im sure there will be LOADS of info on them
