Ok lol, bit of a weird one here,....

Some of you may have seen I recently set up a site on friendpages.com , however, they have since added their own links to my links page, added ads onto the site and more disturbingly, earlier today my father went online to see it and mistyped the url as "friendspages" and came up with a VERY different page.

Try explaining that to your 50+yo father  lol

Now, bearing in mind that when it comes to site building, Im pretty much a NooB. what are my options?
I am happy to move it somwhere, but it needs to be free (or very very very cheap), and preferably not one letter away from p0rn. ;)

My main problem is that Id like to move it looking as it does on the site, and if I have to do it from scratch im screwed, as that site was done thru a web-based GUI-type builder.
It would also need to be very easy to update, I will need to be uploading small pics to the gallery every few days.

    All ideas welcome.

(The site by the way, is www.whistleblower.friendpages.com

you can register your domain name (whatever you want it to be - granted its not taken already) for about 10 euro here:
    www.register365.com
then you can put a redirect to the current website address. That way you can leave everything as it is but have it running under the domain name of your choice.

or try www.dot.tk as it is free

as axer said just point the the url at the already set up site
you can edit it at the friendpages.com site and the url will always be www.franknfurter.tk or whatever

Just so you know that should be www.register365.ie :)

I have a spare domain and hosting space that I would happily allow you to use for this endeavour if you want.

All you would have to do is to register (and hence pay for) the domain you want, I can then setup a virtual server for you etc. I have around 50Megs of spare space. I can also sort out wordpress or summat similar to allow you to do Noobie style admin of your site...

If you are interested PM me.

you can register a domain name at www.nameroute.com for €15 and this includes 10MB of free webspace, FTP access and a POP3 Email account. All it will cost you is the €15 renewal each year. I have a few websites with them and they are excellent when it comes to tech support etc etc.

    http://www.buildtolearn.com/web-forum-5.html

Free but you have to apply and it may take a while for them to get back to you. Say that you are a NooB wishing to learn web dev, give a pretty desent description of what you want the site for and you should get it no bother. Top quality control panel for updating too. Your site will be called http:// <u choose> .buildtolearn.net or you can register a domain name and point it to your site there.

I've had one there for ages:
    http://learnjava.buildtolearn.net
so long that the name no longer reflects the content!
