i think you go to the gards
first thing to get a new one is report this one stolen/missing

Yeah, I lost mine. Theres a lot of paperwork involved, but if you're in a hurry, you can show your flight details, and they'll do it in a few days.
You also have to promise to bring it in if you find it again. But if you don't use it, they'll never know.

Get the Gardaí to stamp/sign a form reporting it as lost. Then go to your passport office. If you need it quickly, say this to them, they can do it overnight (This happened once to my boyfriend, and the passport office had it ready the next day) Just remember that the replacement passport is only valid for one year.

As it happened, the one he lost was returned to him and he's continuing to use it now with no problems, but if you do find it, you are supposed to return it for cancellation

It's simple...go down to the station report it missing, get new forms and send them off, i've lost one or two...and why would someone be carrying it? id purposes I guess. it's not a big deal, get the express post that takes 10 days.

i use my current, and old passports as ID.. the old one's kinda fallen apart now so I generally only use the current.

I was gonna say something to the effect that if u lose yur passport u get arrested as an illegal immigrant, u then get imprisoned without trial and have to suffer nightly beatings....

But in light of what seamus has said above there I'm thinking I won't say it..... ahem....

Did anyone see what phil said???? I'm just looking for scandal cos I'm bored in work....

Well, applied for a passprot recently, on the standard application form, ther's a section for lost passports. Just fill it in front of the Gardaí, get them to stamp it to certify it and then just re-apply. Probably need new photos, but that's it I think. A

Applying via Passport Express only took 8 WORKING DAYs to get to me.if yuor in a hurry, go for that.

Anyway, we had a whole load of trouble last year for my brother's passport. He was bron in Liverpool in England, but he's an irish citizen, so we needed :
    English brith cert
    Marraige cert of parents
    And irish birth cert(I think)

Took us a while to collect the certs though. Got it eventually though!
