Taking into account the current favourable Euro/US Dollar exchange rate.

I was wondering does anyone know of any good American
    Websites
    that deliver to Ireland ?

They can be for any product.

I came across this one www.tigerdirect.com who deliver to Ireland
I found a 40gig fourth generation Ipod that they would deliver to my
doorstep for the sum of 339 Euro (inclusive of delivery charges).

21% (VAT rate) if customs nab you.

Scribs: How much of that was for delivery?

Is theRE anyway to avoid getting caught for paying this tax/duty whatever
and how does one go about it. How do they catch some and not others.

    Explain please.

Hehe. It's illegal to tell you how to evade tax I'm afraid. Sometimes you'll be lucky, and sometimes you wont.

Let's just say though, that your chances of being lucky, are much better if you're not using Fedex or DHL.

if you just find any shiping agents in dublin airport

they will acept the goods there instead of your home
also avoid customs and taxes and dutys
when the airoprt people see the address it will be for internal post
the handling agent will then ring you and you pay aprox 50 euro for the goods if its under 1000 euro.
    simple as that
got in a cracking video camera saved a bundle.
problem is finding a good handling agent theres a dozen or so in dublin airport.

most companys in america or asia will send them to these people because they are werehouses.

When your import gets stopped for duty it gets VAT added at 21%, exise duty if there is any on that particular class of product (computer parts are currently not covered) and then you have to pay a handling charge to the delivery company that deals with the duty on the order (typically €15). All these charges add up quite quickly.

Most american sites dont send goods outside of US due to fraud.

The best way to do it is if you know someone there you can trust to send the money and have him purchase it and send to you.

By law the stores must put the $ value of the product. customs will see this. usually if its small enough they dont care but for plasma tvs etc.. thell notice. But if you have friend send it then no declared value :)

Also. US uses 110V power supply. EU uses 220.
It is common in the EU that appliances accept 100-240V but in the U.S is not as common alot of things only work on 110V.

You should check what you buy works on 220V.
For PCs you can just replace the power unit inside with a euro one.
Like the alienware.com US site is MUCH cheaper then the .ie

You'll find a lot more don't sell outside continental US simply for the fact that they are owned by a company that has affiliated shops/stores in the EU, who make a tidy profit especially when the dollar falls like it has.
