    http://www.hamar.sk/sphere/

    nifty little desktop mod,
    if a little unusable,
a little glimpse of the future nonetheless when we all use computers with 3d gloves a la tom cruise in that film i cant remember.

Looks exactly like Sun's Looking Glass technology, albeit an XP version.. theres a demonstration available to download below for those with bandwidth:

    http://wwws.sun.com/software/looking_glass/demo.html

Looking Glass differs however in that all windows are rotatable through 360' .. you can flip a window around write a note on the back and then leave it there.. nifty but ultimately pointless for the moment until a proper use is found for it.

Except Looking Glass is looking a lot more streamlined than this. The videos they have on each site show Looking Glass to be a lot more mature, though it does have th edraw back that you have to write support for it through an API as opposed to the direct support you'll get with Sphere.

Personally, I don't ever see this happening. Its simple too counter productive in many ways, for example text editing. How is the computer going to know what you intend to be movement to a virtual keyboard or trying to move something. And if you're going to be using a regular keyboard, then whats the point of the gimmicky gloves?

id think "if" 3d workspaces are not just a gimmick,
they would deifinitely require a more natural form of manipulation than a mouse.
gloves would be obvious, problably more like clip on wires than gloves that would still allow manipulation of a keyboard.

perhaps the keyboard could be integrated as a screen you pull up on a monitor and then manipulate with the gloves?
somethin like that little infra red keyboard you can get for your pda these days.

anyway im not saying its the way forward or anything, just think its a cool little mod you can impress your friends with ......
