Which? in the UK issued report this week cautioning against buying a third generation (3G) mobile phone this Christmas.

You have to subscribe to their site to read their report in full, but the intro is available here.

I seen a similar report on Sky News also.. They seemed to be over reacting to be honest as they did not seem to realise that the phone could still operate with 3G coverage was not available. The whole piece sort of made me cringe to be honest..

People know it's new technology that comes with the cost and the teething problems.

I don't see why Sky and others are making such as fuss..

It was dreadful and a disservice to 3G. Since 3G went to test in 2002 the tech and coverage has been dramaticaly improved.

The phones are much better and do not gobble batteries at the same rate.

The roaming to and from 2g (when out of 3g coverage) has improved .

3 have brought great competition into the UK Voice market by simply being there and pricing to go. Lets hope they have the same impact here.

A guy in work got one of the Motorola 3G phones and to be honest it looks pretty cool the phone wasn't the best but the videos were very clear

I actually thought this was sarcasm at first :)

I just got my hands on a new 6630 and I am mightly impressed. Its the most complete package I have ever had when it comes to phones..
