locking down Windows XP

    doesn't start - run - gpedit.msc work on workgroups ?

    Theres a program called "lockxp" that will lock the computer the way Win2k does it, so only the current user can unlock that computer, is this what your looking for?

    XP Pro has that already, you just need to turn off the fancy crappy login feature to see it when you ctrl+alt+del.

    he's talking about locking down windows tools and functions to stop people messing with them, not locking the PC. in which case gpedit will do the job nicely.

    get it how you want it on one machine, then you can just export the group/user policys from the registry and then apply them to each machine either via login scripts or manually.
