Anyone order of dabs and get an e-mail asking about credit card details?
Here's what was in the e-mail:
Thank you for your order placed on 02/12/04
We use information provided by your card issuer to ensure the details
you have provided are correct, when placing your order on-line.
According to theses checks it appears that you have given us incorrect
    details when placing your order.

Please could you e-mail us with the following information to enable
us to complete the processing of your order

    1) The address to which your credit card is registered.
    2) A land line telephone number at which you can be contacted.
    3) Full confirmation of delivery address including company name or
relationship to this address if different from answer 1 (above).

Please could you e-mail these details to webaccounts@dabs.com.
We apologise for any inconvenience you have experienced, however
these checks are put in place to ensure card holder protection
is at a maximum and to reduce the incidence of fraud.

    Thank you for your co-operation.

What do you think is it genuine?

    Jozi

I got an email exactly like that from them too. I just emailed them the address and my Dads work telephone number as it's his card. When I emailed it to them I got an email back saying:
Please do not reply to this email.

    Hi

Thank you for your enquiry to webaccounts@dabs.com. We're now dealing with your request and will get back to you within 4 working hours. (During Office Hours 9am-5pm. Monday – Friday)

Check your order status on the dabs website.
If it says something like 'Awaiting response from customer' the email was genuine!

It's not as though they're asking for your CC number, expiry date, etc over email. Maybe give them a ring and clarify it?

I checked their sit, cant find a phone number. My order status does say something about waiting on customer response
guess ill just mail it to them

The address and name have to be pretty much exact for online verification, check the details you entered against those listed on the CC Bill - you might find there's a letter out or something (that AnPost deal with but the CC verifier won't).

    It's all legit.

I got the same email last week. CC company then phoned me saying that there had been two requests for verification on my address and asked did I actually have an order in with dabs.

    Products are now shipping :)

Same email in my case about 3 weeks ago. Seems there was problems getting the info into the online form right, mainly due to the postcode :|

I've gotten things like that from online companies a couple of times. Invariably it's due to the postcode. I use 000000 now as ______ didn't always work.

FORGET DABS - Why write in caps their customer support is "Automated", service dismal in my experience

    Here is my story.

I ordered ( had a problem with tel entry field - postcode )
    - They sent the " need to check cc address", ok fair enough
    - I responded
    - 72 hours later - no response from them
    - 84 hours later - the stock had depleted and now I was getting an "awaiting stock" message

This happened with two different orders, can't tell you how fustrating it is waiting for a response while watching the stock deplete....

Sent numerous mails - but got "automated" responses - It looks like they just check the mail for a word and send crap back...

    They are no komplett....

The /exact/ same thing happened to me. Their automated response says that you'll get a response within 4 working hours. ABSOLUTE B****CKS.

My stuff is on its way now, but I wont be buying off them again. Jes have disappointed recently too, so it's back to Irish suppliers and Komplett for me (who are yet to screw up).

    Khainne -
Bottom line - I had to cancel the orders in the end, I could not justify giving my cash - to bad robots

So I am getting older by the day - and so is my 9000 PRO AIW ( Still great though !!)I don't mind paying a little extra for good service - Is there a good Irish supplier of graphic cards or should I just stick with komplett

Another similar mail from the same company after I ordered. No way sending such info on email.

    got that email aswell.

status said "waiting from response from customer"

    emailed them

now its "confirmation from CC company"

just checked it there again and its down as "completed"

    whole process took a week.

    Hey Vel.

Hitide are a good Irish company (Actually, the guy's german, but they're based in Clontarf, and come HIGHLY recommended by me).

    9800 pro there is 221.

Also you might want to check www.marx-computers.com

They're a good crowd, though slightly more expensive than komplett, they're also based near clontarf (fairview) and have excellent customer service.

    HTH.

A week for CC confirmation - what a joke - says it all - and just because they don't bother localising the cc address entry data field for Ireland....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,497 ✭✭✭quarryman

well tbh its no big deal for me since this is my first purchase and as long it doesn't have to be done the next time.

i'm not in a hurry and their selection, prices and delivery costs are very good.

also its christmas and i'd expect them to be busy.

Quarryman I feel the Zen - the problem arises when as you wait for cc confimation the stock that was available is sold out...

Good man. I drove up and down trying to find the place. FYI: It's on the corner of the coast road. :)

Love being able to pick stuff up. Really nice touch.

It took about 1/2 days for that status message to change on my order. Ordered it last Saturday, and it was dispatched on Thursday.
