it's the same question as asking, 'would you buy Mercedes or BMW?'
    depends what the person likes.
I myself currently have a 9800 Pro and can still run anything on it.

If you can stretch your budget a little further, this would be a good card to get:

(or from another brand, but you get the idea)

yeah the 6600GT is the card to get for that money. availability on agp versions is low at the moment though.

I actualy have a post on this at the moment myself. For mid range cards the best seem to be eirther the 6600GT or The 6800LE

    http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/gffx/nv43-p22.html

    6600GT(211 EUR) vrs GeForce 6800LE (251 EUR)

98pro is old news Ati should bring out something soon to replace it

    I'd say the 6600GT.

    Like the X800 pro ?

Make sure you research your 9800 pro and that it can be flashed to a 9800XT , nice handy card that.

Not all of the 9800 Pro can be flashed. If you were like me, unlucky, cant flashed my old 9800 Pro to XT.

Errr, don't you mean the X800 pro can be flashed to an X800 XT? I would be very suprised, and intrigued, if you could flash a 9800 pro to an X800 XT.

I said my OLD 9800 Pro and not my current card :p:D

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_6600_GT.html

    = £146.82 = 212.682 EUR

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/GeForce_6800.html
    173.31 GBP = 251.076 EUR

might find it cheaper somewere first place i looked.

the X800 pro is not a midrange card . the x800 pro is a high end card and so not a replacement for the 98pro which is midrange. thats why i said as far as i know ATI have no midrange card that keeps up with the 6600GT. sorry if im not explaining myself well. 98XT would of been replaced by the x800

does anybody know what price a 98XT is i cant find one

The "midrange" replacement for the 9800pro is the X600 or X700 - problem is the r3xx architecture is so good the 9800pro is still pretty much best bang for your money. 6600GT/x700 will be better but for price/performance ratio the 9800 is hard to beat. Also availability for all new marchitecture cards is low due to yield and wafer availability.

If you are on a budget, look at the 9700pro at overclockers.co.uk ~£95.

However if you do have about €200 to spend you might aswell go a little extra and get a 6600GT.

Do you not think the 6800LE is a better bang for the money than the 6600GT/x700, thats what im trying to decide on .
