    Its abou time I built my own PC at this stage but I was wondering am I on the right track?

    Hows all this sound for 1150 without monitor, mouse and keyboard?

    * Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Mainboard S939 PCI-EnForce4 SLI, 4xSATA2, Dual-GbLAN, ATX
    * AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHzSocket 939, 512KB cache, BOXED
    * Corsair TWINX1024-3200XL DDR-DIMM 1024MBKit w/two matched CMX512-3200XL DIMMs
    * PowerColor Radeon X700PRO 256MB PCI-EPCI Express, GDDR3, Tv-Out/DVI, Retail
    * Q-Tec Midi tower ATX 6024MD, BlackPro Line, w/350W
    * Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB S-ATA8MB cache 7200RPM

    Have I missed something major or am I barking up the wrong tree with this line up altogether?

    TBH, I'd change that case and PSU.

    I just bought a system tonight for just under €1500 with keyboard, mouse and screen. It was a 3000+ but that apparently overclocks incredibly well.

    what kind of speeds does it get do you reckon?

    On another topic anyone seen a good 939 socket board with DDR2 support?

    I've been told the 3000+ will get 3500 speeds on air cooling.

    the Gigabyte nforce 4 ultra mobo seems to be good. That's the one I'm getting. €200 though.

    I see no point in skimming money of an integral item like the motherboard that Asus nForce4 I mentioned above is 180 Euro

    Sorry, didn't even check if it was an nforce 4. Are you going for SLI specificly?

    not really but I like to leave my options open, especially with Mobos. Plus dual graphics cards would rock for games.

    One thing i strongly suggest you do is change that Q-tec PSU. Q-tec really are bad for PSU's but even worse. Your using the PSU that came with the case. It will cause problems when trying to overclock and will cause problems furthere down the line. Trust me...I use one..

    Nice system though :)

    I would of gone with a 3200 or 3000+ like me because these things overclock like crazy. I can get to Speeds of a 3500+ On stock cooling ( Air).

    Oh and also....I amnt too sure about the x700. If it was me i would of Probably gone with a 6600GT. There quite good little performers.

    An x700 - what price?
    For what its worth its been showed 6600gts beat them for close the same money - Tested on Doom III it loses quite badly to the 6600gt, but then picks up on some games (not enough in my view but its ur Gfx)
    mmmmmm......... id check it out first and i suppose its down to your game playing too!
