    Probably pointless, but anyway...

The IR port on my nokia 6600 seems to have bitten the dust. I enable IR on the menu, the flashing icon comes on screen but when I try to connect it to my laptop nothing happens. I know the IR on my laptop works cos I can connect my other phone, a nokia 6100, to it no bother.

So, short of ducking out of work one afternoon to pay a visit to the nokia service center, does anyone have any ideas? Phone is still under warranty until Christmas so at least thats something I suppose.

I know this works with most phones, so give it a shot.

You need to look at your IR port on the 6600 THROUGH a digital camera or a phone camera.

If the IR port is working and there is a signal there, you will see it as a white light through the lens.....don't know why....but you do!

I have used this method on a few occasions and it works. Tried it the other night to repair my Sky Remote and was able to see the light also.

Since you've got another Nokia with IR, why not point your 6600 at you 6100 (with IR turned on) and send a Business Card via IR, that way you'll know if it's working.

I've had trouble connecting my 6600 to Laptop IR ports, it's radomly reboots the phone, and I'm on latest firmware

Pop out and visit the nokia repair center, get ur firmware updated for free at least

worked like a charm wolfman.. whipped out the digital camera, turned ir on and I saw a small flash of white light. very cool! Decided to try it with the laptop again and for some inexplicable reason, she works! I'll try to transfer some stuff between phone and laptop tonight before taking the drastic step of going to the nokia centre.

Bogger, I was thinking of that, isnt the new firmware supposed to be buggy as hell?`s

    Cool

At least you know the IR is working on the phone by using this. Then its just a matter of getting the laptop to see it

Bogger......as a matter of interest what version are you running on the 6600?
    Rymus also????
