Moustaches: Yay or Nay?

I only ask as because of a (once again) stupid drunken bet, I had to grow a handlebar moustache and keep it for two weeks. The two weeks is up on Thursday, so yay or nay, if nay, what facial hair is acceptable?

Depends on you're age really, cause if you're like, 40 and you've got one, if you shave it off you look younger :D
but definately a NAY, i'd never let myself grow one.

some thin moustaches are really cute. It depends on the shape of your face the squarer the better. Not great for kissin though, can be a bit on the spiky side

When my dad was alive he had a moustache and it looked really well on him.

Don't think it suits younger fellas though

Moustaches are the most pointless thing on the planet (although Marty Whelan was mentioned earlier.....could be a close run thing.....). Why bother getting up in the morning and shaving most of your face? Either shave the whole lot off or grow a beard, but why would you stop short of shaving your upper lip?

imo defo no no no no no unless it's a goatee(if you're over 20 at least) or you're over 40..

As long as it's not the skanger-tache you see youngins with these days, a good proper 'stache can be quite cool.

Does this not just say OMG COOL to you:

Why bother buying nice clothes or shoes. Why not just cut a hole in a sheet and throw it over your head in the morning and go out like that. Some plastic bags on your feet, and you're set!

    Why grow a goaty?
    Why get your hair cut?
Why do some people get contacts rather than glasses?

Note: I don't have a tache, but I think you get my point. Style/fashion/dares/whatever....

    That 'stach just extrudes cool!

If it looks good keep it. But it is very hard to carry off. I had one for a while - Mexican bandido look, not something I care to remember. Most young blokes look like seventies porn stars with them and should stay away from them. Older men can get away with it because it makes them a bit more distguished looking.

I encountered an elderly lady during Race Week a couple years ago who had a more impressive goatee than my own. The mind boggles.

A 'stash doesn't look good on guys under 40.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,336 ✭✭✭OfflerCrocGod

Are all the ladies saying that this guy is not good looking?

    00be1940.jpg

Personally I would love to look so cool cool.gif I only ever have facial hair when I can't be bothered to shave because I look like a bum otherwise smile.gif I'd like to be able to pull it off though.

I have a goatee and a tash. I'm 25 and I haven't had much in the way of negative comments about it.

Some men look really good in a moustache, but they suck for kissing.
I kissed a guy with bad stubble even and it gave me skin burn...I have sensitive skin so he must be clean shavin' for more of teh lovin'
    hehehe :p

That's only short facial hair. My goatee, for example, is long enough to be considered "nice and fluffly". It's like cuddling a puppy, honest.

O.K., enough of the 'tache bashing.
    You all know 'tache's ROCK!!!

    On its own.. no.
Combined in a goatee type yes :)

ive been rocking a neatly trimmed ring beard with a shaved upper lip and a wee tiny bit of growth under my bottom lip for the last few years and am told it looks great, shaved it all off bar the wee bit and am clean shaven for the first time in about five years now...

the problem with taches is that very few men can get away with them, my cousin is on a one man mission to make them trendy and his is magnificent, he looks like an raf spitfire fighter pilot in june 1940, very smooth and dashing... i would LOVE to try and go there, but i suspect mrs tyranny would be very unimpressed....

unless your stuck in the 70-80's

And what, may I ask, is your problem with the 70's or for that matter, the 80's?
