Hey what does everyone think of the Lance Armstrong Foundation Livestrong coloured wristbands that are the rage at the moment anyone know of a place in Ireland that sells them....they are currently sold out in both USA and UK and there is a 4 week delay from the website while on eBay they are going for extorionate prices (in US they cost $1).So far Ive seen mostly yellow, a few blue and one or two red ones.....nearly every soccer player in Europe is wearing one.
    ;)

Yellow is for cancer, dont know about the others, but they are fairly cool bands.... kind of rubbery stuff, I don't have one, but at least it's something that helps people that caught on fashion wise.

But its a good cause and has made more money for cancer research this year than any other method of fund rasing. It was an ingenius mass marketing ploy that shouldnt be frowned upon given its meaning.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) announced today that more than 20 million LIVESTRONG™ wristbands have now been purchased. The Wear Yellow Live Strong campaign, a LAF and Nike partnership, was launched last May in an effort to raise funds for LAF programs that help people with cancer live strong.

"I am only one of more than 10 million Americans living with and beyond cancer, so there are at least 10 million reasons why I wear my Live Strong wristband everyday," said Lance Armstrong, champion cyclist, cancer survivor and founder of the LAF. "I think the color yellow stands for hope and courage and inspiration and that's why I'm never taking my wristband off."

Wristbands have been sold to citizens of all 50 states and more than 60 countries. Since the launch of the campaign, wristbands have been spotted on a number of athletes, Olympians, musicians, actors and political leaders.

Strong demand for the yellow wristbands continues. The LAF currently sells approximately 150,000 wristbands every day exclusively at www.laf.org and www.wearyellow.com. The LAF's most recent record-breaking sales day occurred on September 20, when the LAF sold 382,000 wristbands in one day. Wristbands are sold for $1 in packs of 10, 100 and 1,200. Due to overwhelming demand for wristbands, orders generally ship to customers in approximately three to four weeks. The LAF has ordered more wristbands in order to reduce the shipping delay.

Next month, the LAF and Nike will begin distributing LIVESTRONG™ wristbands for sale at all Niketown locations, nikewomen stores and Niketown outlets. Discovery Communications will also sell wristbands at its nationwide chain of more than 120 Discovery Channel Stores.

As a tribute to Armstrong's inspirational fight against cancer as well as his historic attempt to break the Tour de France record, the LAF and Nike launched the Wear Yellow Live Strong campaign on May 17, 2004. Nike donated $1 million to the Foundation and led efforts to raise additional millions of dollars through the sale of yellow wristbands engraved with Lance's mantra, Live Strong. All proceeds benefit LAF programs that help people with cancer live strong.

For Lance and many people living with cancer, yellow is the color of hope, courage, inspiration and perseverance. LIVESTRONG™ wristbands allow everyone to share that spirit - especially the 10 million people living with cancer in the U.S.

The LAF is thrilled about the success of the campaign. Funds raised through wristband sales will benefit the LAF's advocacy, education, public health and research programs.

    About the Lance Armstrong Foundation

blah blah blah, amazing how seeing them on celebrities makes the motive for wearing them incidental.

if Lenny was famous our A&E wards would now be full of people complaining of blistering and irritation after applying relgex to their unburnt arms.

What difference does it make who distributes them? Who, in you view, deserves to distribute them?

    just went onto ebay
This auction is for a new Lance Armstrong Livestrong Band.

These bands are the most fasionable item you can be seen with at the moment.

Being worn by all the top celebrities.

    Don't get left behind....Get Livestrong!

Is it just me or have they missed the point?

just did the maths and if she bought them in bulk from america with exchange rates and everything she made at least £700 sterling from this charity

Cheers Lusk! Don't go to any trouble honestly ;)

Penguinbloke > yep I agree with you - ruins the point - I think the official website should be the only place you can buy them to make sure the money does go to charity!

Im starting to really dislike these bands. Any of my friends who i have seen with them, have either gotten them from a friend or off their parents or whatever, none of them have paid for them directly, which i see as totally missing the point. I had a big argument with one girl who said that she got it from her friend and believed that as SOMEONE had paid for it so it was ok, it was alright for here to wear it. Dont know if anyone will agree with me but that i think is a total cheat.I thought that the point was that you wore them to show that you had donated to cancer research or whatever.

As for people seeling them on ebay :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

    Ebay should ban them saps
