I read a letter in this months sky mag about their being no Country music channel on SKY and just saw a similar post on the digital spy website. Doea anyone know if there are any plans to add a country music channel like CMT?

I wish there was but CMT say that a company in austrailia own the overseas rights. CMTUK was on sky analogue years ago until it went bust. VH1 country would be great as it shows hard edge country not the jim reeves variety

CMT used to be FTA on analogue a few years back on Intelsat 605 27W (currently in inclined orbit at 32.9E) along with the Discovery Channel. RTÉ used to retransmit it early in the mornings ISTR.

Sounds like there is nothing in the pipeline then. I thought I remembered seeingon one of the sites that lists upcoming channels a country music station planned for 2005 but cannot find it now.

Bandamax on PAS?? (next bird further west than Hispasat 30W) seems to be some kind of Spanish almost CMT.

AFAIK there hasn't been any form of CMT on any european receivable bird for many years.

    80/90cm should suffice for Bandamax.

Although another 1.8M might be handy for C Band stuff. I happened across an Argentinian channel on 40W over the weekend which featured a large-breasted transsexual with very prominent nipples being interviewed by another transsexual who bore a remarkable resemblance to Zsa Zsa Gabor. Much more entertaining than Country Music. :)

Bandamax is About 75% level and 65% quality on my 80/90 cm cheap Lidl dish. Just make sure the "flight path" isn't blocked by next door's roof!

Sorry to drag this back up but last night when deciding to see how far my dish can go without popping into the slates I got it to 43west, Bandamax is no longer FTA its enc in Viaccess2.

Yep, all six channels on that transponder have the dreaded "$" symbol after a re-scan.

    It wasn't exactly Country Music.

I can't imagine who would pay for it, but then it is a mystery to me people paying for Sky1.

I wonder how many people would actually pay extra for Sky 1 if it wasnm't included in EVERY pack, including the "Knowledge pack"?

I'd suspect the majority of Sky subs are for sport really. As I speak test Cricket is on Sky Sports exclusively. Just as well I'm not a cricket fan.

Buying the DVDs you like is better value over a year than a Sky Movie world sub.
