    Guys,
Near Douglas area of Cork. In process of moving in, so up the walls and have spent very little time on this. Plugged in portable telly last night to check reception. Just had an indoor aerial with adjustable gain. Now I am getting perfect TV3 and TG4 on channels 27 and 31 UHF. So they must be coming from Mullaghanish right? But is that right, being able to pick up perfect UHF so far from it?
Meanwhile, RTE1 and Network2 are brutal. Terrible picture, can barely make it out. They are on VHF. Even if I put up a proper VHF aerial will it get much better? Also, if i put up a specific VHF aerial I will then need to get a UHF one as well right?
Can one amplify a VHF signal? Can anyone tell me if it will be possible to adjust my set-up to get all 4 terrestrial channels? I will be getting Sky in right, but I want to be able to tune in the 4 Irish channels in the bedroom and the front room where i won't have a Sky box, and then digisend a signal from the Sky box to those 2 rooms as a 'fifth' channel.....

Gives us more info about the indoor aerial with adjustable gain you are using.
It might only be suitable for UHF only (i.e. intended for UK market)
Or else it could be faulty (try another one if you can)

You may also have something very near the indoor aerial which is interfering with VHF, like some DVD players?

Do you have an attic? if yes try putting the aerial up there (if cabling allows)

Interesting. I have interference from a dvd player on my NTL (Dublin) analogue tv3 channel. (Vhf, 184Mhz). What causes this although the player is connected by scart lead only?
