iPhone System data

Has anybody has issues with System data taking a huge amount of space? My wife has a 64GB phone and it's taking up 38GB of space. It seems the more things she deletes the bigger the system data gets. Googling has proved fruitless really, a couple of work arounds like changing the date to a year ahead which works initially but when you change the date back it just fills up again. The Nuclear option is to do a back up then reset but we don't want to go down that route. It's ridiculous, System data includes caches, logs and other system data. Why the heck do Apple not have an easy solution to remove this? She's had to order a new phone with more space.

Read your last two sentences! Apple’s problem solved 😂. Seriously though you could try deleting apps and reinstalling them. Some of the apps might be storing information not needed but not much you can do unless you delete and reinstall
