My son, who has ASD and ADHD, wants a "gaming laptop" for Christmas….but they're over a grand and I dont have that kind of money. He only plays Roblox etc on my laptop. So is there a decent value(max €400) laptop out there?

Someone more knowledgable than me will surely answer that question - just one thing for consideration - will there be a requirement for your child to have a laptop in a couple of years time for school work related things such as assignments homework etc? Would you consider future proofing that now by purchasing an excellent spec? Maybe through a loan over a couple of years? Just a thought

Yes. His school have made an application for assistive technology and the maximum budget for that will be €550. Was hoping for us to spend a little less than that but if its worth it, we could maybe stretch that far. Will consider buying it online from amazon /ebay etc or a bricks and mortar store

Have a look at other forums such as computers and also schools/education - I reckon there’s likely a few similar queries to yours there already - I spent less than a grand on a nieces laptop a couple of years ago- I tried to ensure it would be future proof for at least 4-5 years and bring her towards her LC and all is going well so far - I’ve found Dell v good ordering online and being able to tailor to your needs- the spec your kid needs for “gaming” may not be as expensive as you think- depends what games you’re allowing them play etc- I know time is pressing but do consider getting something else just for now and plan out this purchase a bit more if money is tight - you could throw good money after bad for the sake of 1 day in terms of buying a crappy pc but still pricy
