    Need to reroute the Cat 5 cable thats used on an elec gate.

    Its the one that detects whether gate ope is clear

    Both ends are sealed in silicone so don't want to disturb that

    Just wonder is there any good practice, , what type of connectors, solder or not, etc

    join will be above ground in an IPxx junction box fixed to a wall

    You can buy junction boxes. No need for soldering. I’ve used one of these without any issues. They’re quite small

    In that case the cable isn’t carrying data, just power and signals.

    I’d use gel crimps, within a junction box. The crimp is filled with a wax which prevents corrosion.
