Does switching to eSIM impact the ability to change network?

I have three phone numbers due to work, currently carry around a dual sim smart phone plus a nokia brick, but now looking to get three numbers on one phone.

I'm considering changing my vodafone.ie from a normal SIM to an eSIM. However I'm also a bit hacked off with Vodafone so always thinking about changing. Does anyone know if converting to an eSIM locks the SIM to that network or if it impeeds switching in any way?

No - physical SIM is a physical chip you insert, eSIM is a QR-code you scan.

You can have many multiple eSIMs on a phone, however no phone will allow more than 2 to be active and connected to its network at any one time. The rest will be disconnected and incoming calls to go voicemail, SMS won't come through, outbound calls won't be possible.

Thats not my question. I know what an esim is. My question is if converting to an esim impeeds network switching.

No it wont stop you, the reason @KildareP mentioned the 2 active sims on one phone was because you did mention you are now looking to get three numbers on one phone.

No but it isn't going to let you have 3 numbers active simultaneously on one phone.

Ok. I can deal with cycling between the work numbers. Just want to get rid of second phone and don't want to be locked into Vodafone.
