    Hello,

    A lady in her early 80's has asked me about the following;

    She's a widow on non contributory pension and also has an essential medical card. She lives alone in her own home. (Not sure it's relevant but the house is worth €1m+)

    Looks like she'll come into a net inheritance of c70k after CAT.

    Will this affect her pension and/or medical card?

    No other income AFAIK.

    Thank you.

    The non-contributory OAP is means-tested, according to the Citizens' Information website. Therefore I assume she has previously been assessed. Only the DSP can really answer the question posed, as it's dependent on her individual situation.
