hi, I have an uplighter lamp with a halogen bulb which I want to replace with an LED. I bought

    R7s Bulb 118mm Led Dimmable 2pcs 9w 6000k J118 Cool White

It flickers when the brightness is at max and won't turn off when fully dimmed.

Is this LED not the right spec for this lamp?

Not my area of expertise but I think, repeat think, that proper LED dimmers actually manage the power to the luminaire, whereas others just burn off the excess at the dimmer.

It's the dimmer type - it's not suitable for LED lights as it's designed for the energy usage of a high current halogen.

If possible swap it for an LED dimmer, for example this one:

the lamp has a cord with a 3 pin plug. The dimmer button/mechanism is built into the lamp so don't think the nexus is suitable?
