I'm not a fan of the guardian but some articles are interesting, this one describes the race among the navy s of the world to deploy autonomous craft to control and protect undersea infrastructure

Obviously Europe should be doing it as a unit but as we are all now aware, the Germans cant be trusted when self interest comes into it and the French, well the French are the French, tempted to use the simpsons meme. The UK are sort of in the story, but difficult with our history to depend on them.

The technology is developing at pace and might be cheaper than the usual aircraft ship investments and return more value in self protection.

This belongs either under Interesting Articles or the Naval Service general thread.
