2-Gang Dimmer Switch Issue

Replaced a 2-gang light switch with a 2-gang dimmer switch in my Kitchen at the weekend but having some issues with it.

The previous 2-gang light switch was wired as shown in the image. One live to L1 on each switch. The switched live to COM on the right hand switch and a jumper wire from that COM terminal to the COM terminal on the left hand switch.

I rewired the dimmer switch the exact same way. But I have an issue, I have no power to the lights on the left hand switch unless the right hand switch is also on. And if I dim the right hand switch it will also dim the left hand light.

Any idea what's happening?

Can you put up a picture of your current setup and how it was originally wired? I'm guessing you've a switch feed and a switch wire mixed up, you should have a permanent live coming to the commons

That must be it - this was the original switch. I've no photo taken of what I've done but you must be right

Incoming unswitched voltage to the common on each switch. Verify which wire this is this if necessary with a phase tester. The lights wires to each L1.

That's what I had done but I must have messed something up. I must have put the right hand light wire to COM by mistake.

I'd go back to basics and use a phase tester to identify the incoming live feed, then ensure that it's connected to the looped COM.

Other than that, is there any chance that this is a 2-way setup with another switch elsewhere?

No it's just this switch only, I'd say I mixed up the live feed with the feed to one of the lights. I'll test it at the weekend and put it right
