    Kildare County Council has applied to ACP for permission to build the Celbridge Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor;

    The Celbridge Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor Section 177 AE Planning Application | Kildare County Council

    The Celbridge Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor Compulsory Purchase Order 2025 | Kildare County Council

    The construction of a new road, pedestrian footpaths, and cycle lanes as part of an active travel corridor known as the Celbridge Hazelhatch Mobility Corridor, located in Celbridge Town, County Kildare. The proposed corridor spans approximately 2km, commencing at a new junction with Clane Road (R403) and extending southeast through predominantly greenfield lands. The corridor connects with the R405 Hazelhatch Road and terminates at the Loughlinstown Road Roundabout near Hazelhatch and Celbridge Train Station.

    The most interesting drawings for a layperson can be found in the landscape design, look for the following file;

    If it were up to me, the new road would join the R405 further north than proposed.

    Mobility Corridor is a stupid name, it's just a road and has been designed almost exclusively for cars. I think it is very disappointing that there isn't bi-directional cycle lanes on both sides of the road. The cycling provision is particularly bad at the southern end, on approach to the station, where cyclists would have to cross the road twice to access the station.

    They could have at least provided bus stops at the Newtown Road junction to encourage people to take the bus to the station. There really should be a plan to provide a frequent, high quality bus service along Shackleton Road, Clane Road and this new "Mobility Corridor" with more/better bus stops. Encouraging more people to drive themselves to the station is not going to work out well.
