Hi. Strange post to this group .

I have never ever smoked in my life - I am just getting over a cold at the moment and pretty congested , lot of phlegm on my chest and throat and nose but not really bad as to get to doc's to get antibiotics (most probably wouldnt work anyway because i dont think its bacterial) .

I have been trying airwaves, hot drinks, jakemans throat and chest lozenges , they have helped but not really loosening it enough to cough up the phlegm and get it off my chest.

some time ago my wife bought a plug in electric inhaler machine (from ALDI or LIDL middle aisle lol) and you can put the face mask on it or a mouthpiece and its sat there in a cupboard . i pulled it out and got some olbas oil liquid and put a drop or 2 in where the liquid is supposed to go and used the mouthpiece, breathed in deep the olbas through the mouthpiece into my lungs and then breathed through my nose for about 10 minutes - bloody hell after I was finished i felt so much relief, I was blowing my nose and coughing up my phlegm , it loosened it good!

Obviously it having to be plugged in by a 3 pin electrical plug so its not practical to go out and use it - so i was thinking about starting vaping (as you do) but then i thought i dont want to get hooked on nicotine , but then my research on e- cigarette world site pointed to the fact you can get menthol juice at 0.00mg Nicotine (if correct).

Is there anything else I should be aware of - and How do I start , I havent a clue. would I be good to go into the vape shop and they will advise what vape/equipment I need to buy and then just put the juice in it and just breath it in when I am out and about?
do you reckon i should try it? - i am only thinking short term , and it shouldnt be addictive should it without the nicotine.

By the time you pay for all this crap, you'd have the price of a visit to the doctor and a course of antibiotics. While it's true that antibiotics won't cure a cold, you've gone past that stage. You may be on the way to developing a chest infection as a result of the cold. Perhaps you might check with a pharmacist who can advise.

I would say don't, as someone who tried it and spent 3 years smoking the dirty things.

Now I know you mentioned without the nicotine, but I found myself very phlegmy when vaping, and I've never really suffered with anything like that. So, I think it would make it worse in the long run for you. I'm not really sure if that's nicotine-related, but apart from that, you really don't know what sort of other chemicals are in them, buggars. I'm sure a doctor wouldn't approve of it!

NAC works for me when i'm getting over a cold/congestion.
