Did anyone else here attend the 'Lets talk tree's ' events over the last few weeks, I went to Kilkenny last night and Minister Healey Rae seems genuinely interested in improving the forest service and getting the area planted increased, but he's facing an uphill battle with the same DAFM staff still in place, Seamus Dunne chaired the meeting, and I thought it was an insult to everyone present who has been affected by Ash Dieback having him there, in fairness to MHR he took questions from the floor and remained afterwards to talk to people individually.

I had great hope for MHR but i now think he will not succeed against entrenched civil servants in the department and is turning into a show-man.

As Michael O'Leary said, they keep moving the goalposts (rules!) for farm foresters. In such a fantastic country for growing trees, Forestry is kinda dead in Ireland now. RIP
