Wha! Can't see the link between a kitchen and a bath!. Am I missing something?

With a reasonably thick adhesive bed, then yes. The bed depth is a function of the tooth width on tiling trowels.

An 8mm square notch will give you a bed depth of 4mm. So match the required depth against the tile size and then go up one.

This is what my kitchen looked after I stripped the old tiles. Worked out fine.

If you mean my splashback, then its 600 mm wide (as most cookers are) and the hight was set at 680 mm to suit the cooker hood. Its actually coloured glass, cost around €120 and is glued to the wall with a special silicone provided by the company I bought the glass from.
