    Hi,

I'm looking for a basic washing machine that is suitable for an elderly person with poor vision.

Ideally it would have a low number of preset programs and an easy to use and see touchscreen panel or a dial control.

I am considering the machine below but it has a feature where the clock on the machine auto adjusts so programs can run longer than stated when you start the program.

This makes it unpredictable. You cant plan other things if you don't know when the program will eventually finish.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Beko website recommends this machine and is available in Currys.

I am not aware of any machine that does not adjust the countdown clock based on load conditions; its a basic function of the controllers that they all use. The budget brands make units without a countdown clock, but those will also take as long as they need and just not tell you.

    Thanks, I didn't know that.

Do you know of any that have the bare minimum of presets

    or

better still a machine with no presets that lets you set your program time and temperature yourself?

We have the slightly lower spec model (https://www.powercity.ie/product/3821W) .Very simple to use. We mostly use the quick wash option, standard one 30deg 28min. You can increase temp in 10deg increments and time goes up accordingly. Works fine for us. Only drawback is it defaults to 600rpm spin so you need to manually change that too, but its just 2 presses of touch switch to scroll, to max spin.

    Thanks, that's very helpful.

    A couple of Qs

Does the quick wash do a good job at 30°?

What the highest temp setting that can be used?

We find 30 to be adequate most of the time. Occasionally if kids have yogurt etc on them, 40 usually does it. Temp is selectable up to 90 iirc.

Great, I'll either get your model or the one I linked above.

Your spec is ideal so it's just a matter of which drum size is best.

Thanks for your help, you've saved me a lot of time searching for machines and reading reviews
