Boosting WIFI into attic conversion.

Hi all

I’m with VM 1GB.

We have recently got an attic extension and will be moving both home offices up to the attic.
I was using an Ethernet connection upstairs and my wife using WIFI downstairs but we will now both be using WIFI in the attic.
The VM router is on the bottom floor.
How can I boost the signal short of running two ethernets from the router?

Providing during renovation you have introduced Ethernet cable in to the extension/attic - just an AP (or switch and AP from it)
If not, you stated have Ethernet, presumably, on the floor below - WiFi should penetrate through wooden floors without much degradation

I’ve no Ethernet connection in the attic however i do on the floor below.
The WIFI is ok in the attic but with two heavy users in the attic going forward I’m thinking we might run into problems.

Maybe powerline adapters? They can be useful in certain circumstances.

Like TP links or something?
Is a router or booster or something on the 1st floor a better option or a different option at least?

WiFi was almost non-existent when we got our attic converted. Tried range extenders but no use really. Ended up with a TP link deco mesh setup (kit of 3 in total, one placed on each floor) and now getting 150-200mbps on WiFi up in the attic, no issues since. Was around 100e for the kit, I’m sure there are far better systems but this definitely sorted all my coverage and speed issues with ease.

Hi Op I have similar set up. I put a TP link in the hallway as the router is in the living room. I’m getting around 200mb in the Attic room. Hope it helps.

Similarly, we got Google's WiFi mesh and it works perfectly. I'm sure it's not the best or the cheapest but it was easy to install and has never let us down
