32" TV comparison

    Hi all,

My old Panasonic 42" plasma TV is on its last legs. Looking to replace it with a 32". Its a bedroom TV for use with a firestick and not used too often. Budget around €200-300 max.

My main TVs are both LG so I was leaning towards the same brand. I was looking at this but wasn't sure of the exact model number/spec?

Richer Sounds Ireland - LG 32 Smart HDR 1080P Freesat TV Lg 1YG

However reading some of the threads here, you have two Philips TVs that seem highly recommended by yourselves; 32PFS6908 and 32PFS6900.

Can I ask what the difference between these is? As far as I can make out the 6900 model has the Dolby Audio but 6908 model doesn't? And how do either of these compare to the LG linked above? Out of the three what might be the best option.

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi Manzoor14.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

There is very little difference between the two Philips.
The more expensive one is the newer 2025 set.

    image.png

The LG would then fit in the middle of both these.

Best buy would be the 32PFS6900 but if you after cheap then the PFS6809 will do the job just grand.

No problem, thanks Kenny. One clarification, in that table the second TV in the comparison is 32PFS6809 model, but the model on the website is 32PFS6908 - can I check that is just a typo in the above table?

If so I think i'll fire ahead and order it, but looking at the sign-up/VIP offer on the website that only applies to the Sterling prices? So even with shipping to ROI costs applied its better value to order in Sterling, rather than Euro, and get shipped to ROI. Or am I missing something?

    Hey Manzoor14.

Ahhh, It was my typo unfortunately so the table is incorrect as it put in the 6809 rather than the 6908.

The main difference is that the Philips 32PFS6908 supports HDR10, while the Philips 32PFS6900 does not, though both models are 32-inch Full HD Smart TVs with Ambilight.
    Feature Philips 32PFS6908 Philips 32PFS6900
HDR support HDR10 support No HDR10 support
Tuner Tuner support for Saorview Tuner support for Saorview
TV tuner Supports DVB-T, DVB-T2, DVB-C, DVB-S, DVB-S2 May be an older model with fewer tuner options

So the 6908 is the better of the two sets.

The Euro pricing is usually reduced close to the VIP pricing but if the sterling is cheaper then there is no issue at all in paying via sterling.

Our Euro pricing is not a direct conversion from the sterling and sometimes Euro can be cheaper, sometimes Sterling is cheaper.

    Hi,

Sorry to piggyback on this but I am looking for something very similar! Would the Philips 32PFS6908 be your pick? Even when it’s currently on offer? That seems to good to be true! Also what mount would you recommend for full movement? Thank you

  • Company Representative Posts: 18,290 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Suitcasepink.

The Philips 6908 is perfect for a 32" TV.
Manzoor above snapped themselves up one.

For a full motion there is the Pixel

Hi guys, received the TV yesterday, very happy with it, thanks for the recommendation! My only feedback is on your delivery partners - getting a phone call on a Tuesday morning, without any prior contact from them, wondering why there is nobody home, is a bit behind the times these days. Its a small thing though and won't stop me from ordering from RS again.

    Hi Manzoor14.

Glad you have received the TV and are happy with it.

I will pass on your delivery concerns to our logistic team and they will be able to bring this up with the courier.
Usually you should get a call from us to confirm up the delivery day, so apologies this did not happen.

    Hi Kenny,

I actually had a very similar experience, thrilled with my purchase but had to raise a query with your logistics team about the delivery company. I didn’t find them overly helpful at all. Thank you though!

Just a question on the Philips 32" TV - 32PFS6900.

How much is delivery to Cork?

Also can you still get 37" TVs ? The unit I have can take 32" at a stretch it can take a 37" so would be an upgrade in size

  • Company Representative Posts: 18,290 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Catfish.

The 32PFS6900 is priced at £199 + £6.99 shipping or €249 including shipping.

You are free to pay in whichever currency works out to be the cheapest for you.

    OK thanks

Just a technical query - I see the TV has a satellite input. I currently use a Humax to receive FTA channels and connect this to the TV via the HDMI. Can you explain if I could use the satellite input for FTA channels!?

  • Company Representative Posts: 4,813 ✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: DavidS

    Hi Cuttlefish.

You can use the satellite tuner to get FTA channels but it doesn;t have a Freesat branded tuner so it won;t give you an EPG or order the programmes for you.

The only 32" TVs that have Freesat tuners are the LGs.

Please don't hesitate to drop me a post if you have any further queries!

    Kind regards

    David

    Hi David

thanks again for the reply. Best to keep the Humax as the source for FTA so!?

Is the Philips 6900 a TV you'd recommend?

For the space I have a 32" TV is the biggest (a 37" would just fit also BUT I think they are no longer made) and as well as it needing to be 32" in screen size I also need one with three HDMI ports and not many 32" TVs offer that

  • Company Representative Posts: 18,290 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Cuttlefish.

Yip the 32PFS6900 is the TV we would recommend and it has 3 HDMI inputs.

a 37" TV no longer is in production unfortunately, next size above a 32" would be a 40"

    Hi Kenny/ David:

been scouring the internet over the weekend and narrowed the search down to four 32” TV

which of these would you recommend, from your experience and knowledge:

    Sharp 32FH8KA

    Philips 32PRS6908

    Sony KD32W800P1U

    Samsung Q32Q50A

    all have 3 HDMI

Are all dual tuner - Saorview (Coaxial) and FreeSat (Sat)?

I know the Sony is 720p but reports are the screen is impressive

All have Bluetooth except Philips so might be a deal breaker on that on, just might

    Thanks for the post Cuttlefish.

Out of the four above I'd be partial to the Philips however - while they have satellite inputs none of them have Freesat built in. As I said begfore the only 32" TV with a Freesat tuner is an LG. The others will get the channels but you can't order them or have an EPG.

The panel on the Philips is my favourite out of them but I would recommend the LG as the next to go for as it has the Freesat tuner:

    Thanks David,

Probably go with the Philips so.

Thinking of adding a sound bar and looking at the JBL Bar 2.0 All-in-one Mk2 - I would connect via optical cable is that possible?

IF I connected via HDMI then would I be using one of the three available HDMI's on the TV itself?

  • Company Representative Posts: 4,813 ✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: DavidS

Thanks for getting back to me cuttlefish.

You can connect via either HDMI ARC or optical with those two items but you would be using up an HDMI port and as it's only a stereo bar you won't be getting a whole heap of extra sound quality for the compromise so you'd be just as handy with optical.

Please don't hesitate to drop us a post if you have any further queries.

    Kind regards

    David

    Couple of final questions

Does the TV allow co-axial to pic up the Irish channels - is it MPEG4 and can i pick up with my UHF aerial

Does it come with the services such as VirginMedia player and RTE player, if not can they be installed via their app store

In other words is this TV suitable for consumers in the Republic. Thanks again for your help

  • Company Representative Posts: 18,290 ✭✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: Kenny

    Hi Cuttlefish.

It has a standard co-axial connection so you can pick up Saorivew with no issues.

I'm not sure it will have ViginMedia Player but the RTE player is available.
