My laptop, a Toshiba Tecra R950, running Windows 10 Pro, has developed a screen problem - two thin lines extending from left side of screen, one 4 inches from left and one 1 inch from left, about 1 inch between the lines.

Can someone please advise if this is a problem that can be sorted out or is it a sign of come serious issue down the road?

    Many thanks.

Connect external monitor and see if it replicate there.
    If not, likely LCD issue

Unfortunately, I do not have another monitor. If it is LCD issue, is it repairable? Thanks.

You have TV at home , right? HDMI connection….
Don't think you can repair. See how much would cost to get replacement screen.

Edit: does that laptop skipped HDMI ? VGA and DP if am looking at the right device. well , you might need screen that support those or DP-to-HDMI cable to connect to TV, i guess

If you press the screen does it change/disappear

Probably other places you can get it if comfortable changing it, tho for something that old that may have something else break before too long might be worth just spending a little more for a new low spec laptop depending on what you use it for

I don't think it's worth fixing. Unless you enjoy fixing things.

I have been looking at replacement screen cost v purchase of new W11Pro laptop - I would not feel comfortable replacing the screen myself, so there would be additional costs etc. On the new laptop front, I have been looking at this HP laptop:

    HP 255R G10 AMD Ryzen™ 5 7535U Laptop 39.6 cm (15.6") Full HD 16 GB DDR5-SDRAM 512 GB SSD Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Windows 11 Pro Silver

Not very up-to-date with current specifications etc. etc. The laptop is for home use, MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Photoshop and Internet browsing. Very light usage. Any comments/recommendations welcome. Thank you.
