Cobbling together a TV sound upgrade for occasional use

Hi Richer sounds , already have a Tangent amp & Arcam Muso and a mini sub ( cambridge?) from you for years on a sports- game TV and it works better than expected.

For another rarely used room I found another set of Muso in a box and see there is a dedicated TV version of the Tangent amp & would add a basic R8-SW Klipsch sub (will not be seen in this room so cosmetics not important). On a 55" oled LG for netflix.

Is the TV Tangent the same as the multi-input one, other than the limited functions.

Can you confirm the St£ price ( UK card payment) for delivery to dublin for the tv-tangent & sub.

    Tks

    Another question.

Dug out my old Marantz KI signature CD & Marantz KI Amp combo & B&W speakers from 1996 and fired it up for the first time in years. Bought from you when you had a shop in Dublin, maybe?? Had gathered dust for years

Even with "lossless" spotify, and a (basic) DAC the CD was way better sound.

Could you recommend a DAC or something that would get us close to the sound we took for granted 30 years ago…

Played some Tracy Chapman to my now adult son, and he was stunned. They have been all reared on mediocre sound…

    Hi Fortyplus.

    Hope you are keeping well.

The Tangent TV is priced at just £119

    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-15322-tangent-ampster-tv-ii-stereo-amplifier.aspx

The R8SW coming in at £189

    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-208880-klipsch-r-8sw-brushed-black-subwoofer.aspx

You could also check out the Argon Audio Sub 6

    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-208972-argon-audio-malmo-sub6-black-6yr-subwoofer.aspx

Ampster TV with R8SW I can offer at £288

Ampster TV with Sub 6 I can offer at £288 also.

The Marantz KI sig stuff was outstanding in their day and still highly sought after.

Regarding the DAC, is this connected in between your CD player and amp?
You could check out the Fosi Audio ZD3

    Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks Kenny, as both are the same price, which sub would you recommend?

Or is it worth spending the extra few £ and getting the same mini cambridge again as I got previously. It's for a bigger room, but the volumes will never be loud, it's casual family use. Clarity & natural sound preferred to volume

Half thinking to stick with the Tangent amp as it has flexibility, but then again the family-friendly HDMI connector is attractive.

On the DAC, it would be to stream lossless spotify to the Marantz Ki Sig AMP & B&W CDM 1 speakers. So to "replace" the Marantz CD KI, as the last CD was purchased a long time back.

Note the AMP is strictly analog. Nice big fat RCA connections to the CD player.

Honestly, I have never even looked at what options are available on this, so no idea what my expectations should be. Edit, just looked at your website, maybe something from WiiM, Edit#2 looks like the WiiM Pro+ is the entry level way to go?

    Hey Fortyplus.

    Now I understand……

The Wiim products are fantastic and I would recommend the Wiim Ultra streamer.
It it a fantastic product and very easy to setup and use.
It has a built in ESS Sabre ES9038QM2 DAC which is a very god DAC.

    Currently priced at €399 delivered

On the sub front I would tend to lean towards the Argon Audio, it pack a decent punch for the money.

If you wanted to go for another Cambridge I could offer the X201 for €329

OK, so a list is looking like:

    Argon sub

    Tangent TV amp

    WiiM Ultra streamer.

Paying with a St£ card, for delivery to Dublin, what does that come to.

Perfectly happy if you have open box products, I am long past the excitement of opening parcels :-)

    Hey FortyPlus.

I've none of them in open box or ex-display unfortunately.

    Argon Sub 6 @ £179

    Wiim Ultra Streamer @ £335

    Tangent TV amp @ £109

Total would then be £623 delivered.

Just checking if there is a typo, is that the Argon sub 8 or sub 6. Whichever it is, is it available in white

Undecided on having the dedicated tangent TV amp (probably be fine & simpler) or spend the few£ and make things more complicated with the full tangent amp. Could you quote the option.Tks

Was listening to the one we have with optical connection to TV on muso speakers last night w/ netflix and it's a super setup for it's simplicity!

    Hi FortyPlus.

It should have been the Sub6 as that it one I had quoted for.
I have corrected the typo above.

With the Tangent Ampster BT the price would be €673 delivered.
