Housing adaptation grant application

    Hello,

I’m in the process of filling out the housing adaptation form on behalf of my dad / parents both age 78. We are hoping to get approval for stairlift, ramps for the entrance and back door of the house to include grab rails. We do not need a bathroom fit out as such as there is a shower .

The public health nurse suggested we apply. I did ring cork county council to get assistance on the form , they said they will organise an occupational therapist to assess the home, I did ask will I start getting quotes but she said no.

However there is a section in the form asking how much do you think this will cost ? Do I try and figure out a figure ? I will ring stairlift companies and see if they can give me a ballpark figure (curved stairlift) will this do? I saw a company called ramps maybe they will give me a ballpark quote

I have the statement of liability plus property tax statement and form going to the GP on Monday to fill out

It’s a minefield in the middle of a stressful situation! If anyone has any tips could you reply , I believe this could all take one year ..assuming we get approval
