Morning.

My father already has a license, looking to get on his as a joint license, what's the next steps please?

I have the day course completed.

Is it for deer hunting, small game hunting, vermin shooting, or target shooting?

If it's deer hunting then a deer license is compulsory and you must do a HCAP course or equivalent.

If it's small game shooting then join your local gun club is easiest.

If it's target shooting then join a target shooting club.

If it's vermin shooting then you'll need the name, address, and phone number of the landowner where you'll be vermin shooting.

Download FCA1 form from the Garda website. Fill in your details and the details of the rifle. For firearm dealer pulse number section you can N/A that section and attach another sheet yourself explaining that you're not buying the rifle from a gun dealer and that your dad already has a licence for it. There's a section where it asks if you'll have joint use of the rifle. Say yes and fill your dad's rifle license details on that.

Where it says reason for requiring the firearm, tick the correct box and supply a copy of your gun club membership/ target club membership/ Deer license/ vermin shooting permission contact details.

After that drop your completed form into the Garda station and sit tight.
