"Updates", what happens when these run out?

    Was thinking of buying a used phone but the updates expire in two years.

    New phones now seem to have 6 years of updates.

    My current phone was bought in 2019 Huawei and the updates cut off years ago.

    Is this a serious issue? Apart from some apps no longer function.
